Tibet – The Roof of the World
Zara Fleming
An overview of Tibetan history from the time of the great Tibetan Empire (6th – 9th century) up to the present day; explores their fascinating culture inspired by Buddhism, introduced from India in the 7th century. The lecture also gives an insight into the current situation.

Born into a prominent family he originally studied philosophy and language to become a lawyer like his father but his talent for drawing encouraged his career in art. He was the leading court painter for the Spanish nobility and remains a major influence to the present day.

Mozart’s Cosi: A Comic Opera?
Jonathan Hinden
A non-technical and not-too-serious account of this masterpiece, its characters and story, with musical illustrations on the piano, focussing on the composer’s ability to express character and mood through music and with a brief look at the circumstances and context of its composition.

How to Enjoy Sculpture : a Brief Guide to Art in Three Dimensions

The lecture explores the range of art that can be defined as sculpture with examples from classical antiquity to the present day. Until the 20th century a sculpture was a solid object of constant shape but no more. Sculptures now may move change shape or even disappear.
