LATEST NEWS – The Young Arts Group linked to the LeicesterDFAS is in the news. NADFAS have filmed the group and the film will be seen by clicking this link.
First Young Arts Group – Take 5
In 2007 June Graveson, Young Arts organiser, established the very first Young Arts Group in Leicester. It is also the first Young Arts Group in the East Midlands Area.
Take 5 events in 2009:
Take 5 has had another good year. Recent events included a visit to the British Library where the education officers reported the children ‘surprised them with their imagination, their answers and total involvement, they worked very hard and their behaviour was excellent’. Afterwards the children had a guided tour of the ‘Henry V111 – Man and Monarch’ exhibition. They then visited the Centre for Conservation and met one of the conservators.
June Gaveson is standing down from the running of the Take 5 scheme, but Take 5 will be continuing at Sir Jonathan North School and Jane Wilford will be acting as contact between Take 5 and LDFAS.
Take 5 has been a great sucess, enouraging an interest in the arts for the children involved and giving them an opportunity to express themselves through their own art and learning about art through workshops. An exhibition of the work of the Take 5 was on show at the recent Social Evening in July 2009. The standard of work completed speaks for itself.
The photographs below show some of the events the children were involved in.
